From Vision to Reality

In mid-2013, an informal gathering of friends, all of whom worked at brokerage houses, sparked a transformative discussion centred around the Bitcoin whitepaper. This conversation evolved into a shared vision for a new platform that would democratize and simplify access to financial markets.

On November 28, 2013, Bitcoin's price crossing the $1,000 threshold at Mt. Gox vividly demonstrated the practical applications and value of the ideas presented in the whitepaper.

Motivated by this breakthrough, several individuals from that initial meeting chose to leave their jobs at established financial institutions. They embarked on creating their own trading platform designed to bridge the emerging crypto world with traditional financial markets, aiming to simplify interactions between these two complex spheres.

Driven by this bold vision, by December 2013, they had informally launched the SimpleFX brand by securing the simplefx.com domain.

After months of dedicated effort, our system was fully equipped to support margin trading across various asset classes, and we successfully processed our first Bitcoin transaction using our proprietary payment system, identified by TX ID

We took pride in being early adopters of two groundbreaking technologies. Firstly, we utilized blockchain as a fundamental system for processing payments, enhancing security and transparency. Secondly, we implemented AngularJS 1.x as our frontend framework.

This technology enabled us to deliver a fast, reliable, and universally accessible trading platform, which uniquely allows visitors to engage in demo trading without the requirement to submit an email address, facilitating an immediate and hassle-free user experience.

First to the Cloud next to the Moon

In August 2016, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges fell victim to a significant hack. This event highlighted a disturbing trend within the crypto industry, where DDOS attacks, hacking, threats, phishing, and identity theft became rampant activities perpetrated by malicious actors.

We responded decisively, enhancing our systems and collaborating with international Financial Intelligence Units to combat these threats.

That year marked a period of rigorous security enhancement and external audits for our platform. We implemented a suite of security features aimed at protecting our users and alerting them to suspicious activities. Recognizing the need for robust infrastructure, we migrated our systems to the cloud, enhancing our security and scalability. However, our commitment to security didn't stop there.

We also launched a series of educational emails and a dedicated blog to bolster our users' cybersecurity awareness, empowering them to safeguard their digital assets effectively.

Crypto year = Busy year

This year marked a significant period of systems stress testing for the entire cryptocurrency industry and the Bitcoin blockchain, culminating in the Bitcoin Cash fork. We fully supported this fork and successfully distributed Bitcoin Cash to our users.

We also reached a major milestone, celebrating over 100,000 traders on our platform. Our efforts were recognized at the Cryptocurrency World Expo, where we were honored with the award for Best Trading Platform.

In terms of platform enhancements, this year we expanded our support to include three new blockchains: Bitcoin Cash, DASH, and Ethereum. We also enhanced our platform's functionality by incorporating real-time market news data. Additionally, we integrated with Unilink, an innovative affiliate system that boosts revenues for users who share an invitation link to our platform, leveraging community growth and participation.

Brand new trading experience

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the new version of our web app, accompanied by the highly anticipated, fully native mobile app for Android and iOS. This pivotal upgrade, designed from scratch, focuses on making complex financial products easily accessible while still catering to the needs of our advanced users. A highlight of this redesign is the innovative, foldable interface, which promises to be a game-changer in user experience.

In addition, our platforms now feature integration with TradingView, the premier tool for traders specializing in technical analysis. This integration allows for direct trade placements and modifications from within the charts, enhancing user experience and efficiency.

We have prioritized speed in both trade execution and platform loading times. The redesign was challenging but ultimately successful, drastically reducing global load times by a factor of ten.

The launch has been met with exceptional feedback, culminating in recognition at the Cryptocurrency World Expo, where we were honored with the award for Best Cryptocurrency Trading Platform.

I have a trading idea!

As our platform's shoutbox became increasingly congested with mixed discussions across various channels, it became apparent that it was not as effective as in its early days. This observation led to the development of a valuable new feature on our platform: "Trading Ideas". This feature allows users to share their chart analyses and market movement predictions, facilitating organized discussions, enabling traders to foster communities around their profiles, and allowing for rapid feedback through "Likes" on published trading ideas

Understanding that great trading ideas deserve exceptional trading conditions, we've expanded our offerings to include 192 trading instruments and have integrated with more exchanges to ensure the most competitive rates. We are proud to announce that for the second consecutive year, we have been named the Best Trading Platform at the Cryptocurrency World Expo.

COVID - we survived

This year has been one of strategic focus. Lightning-fast payments

During the weekend of May 15th, the Bitcoin network was overwhelmed by a surge in transactions, resulting in significant congestion. This led a major asian cryptocurrency exchange, to pause withdrawals twice within 24 hours due to high gas fees. The ensuing market panic contributed to a sharp decline in Bitcoin's price, which fell to $30,000.

In response to these recurring congestion issues, which affect the deposit and withdrawal times and fees for our users, we have launched a Bitcoin Lightning Network Node. Moreover, we have committed to our platform users that this payment method will always remain free of charge.

In an unexpected turn of events, we reconsidered our use of Dogecoin. Until 2021, we utilized Dogecoin for test transactions in our crypto payment system, often discarding them afterward. However, prompted by insights from Elon Musk, we realized the error in this approach. As a corrective measure, we now include DOGE among the 22 other cryptocurrencies we accept for payments: ADA, ATOM, BAND, BNB, BUSD, CAKE, DAI, DOT, EOS, MATIC, ONT, PAX, PAXG, SHIB, TRX, UNI, WBTC, XRP, XTZ, YFI, YFII, and ZEC.

Additionally, we've expanded our offerings to include 50 new instruments for margin trading.

This year also brought clarity to the vision for our token, though its implementation will adapt and change over time.

10th Anniversary of SimpleFX

As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of our brand, we're excited to highlight several key milestones that mark our progress and influence across the industry.

The first major milestone we achieved involves restructuring our organization. SimpleFX has now split into two companies, with the newest addition being regulated under FSC Mauritius. This reorganization offers improved access and services, especially for those new to the cryptocurrency world.

Our second milestone is our ongoing effort to refine and evolve. The landscape of cryptocurrency awareness has shifted dramatically from our early days as a niche to its current mainstream status. We’re proud to remain at the forefront of this blockchain evolution. Additionally, we're encouraged by the implementation of regulatory frameworks that help us merge traditional and digital finance effectively. Despite the challenges of adhering to local regulations while operating a global online trading platform - including occasionally restricting access in certain regions or delaying features to meet regulatory standards - compliance is our highest priority.

Finally, an exciting milestone is the introduction of our custom-developed platform, "Core". Transitioning from the old system to Core will minimize dependencies and greatly improve our clients' trading experience.

Regulatory milestone:
In 2025, SimpleFX took a major step in its global compliance journey. 8TECH ZA (PTY) LTD received full authorization from the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) in South Africa under FSP License No. 53073, and became officially registered as a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP).

This authorization enables SimpleFX to offer crypto asset services within a fully regulated South African framework - bringing greater security, transparency, and peace of mind to traders across Africa and beyond. The FSCA license adds to our existing FSC Mauritius regulation, further cementing SimpleFX as a trusted, multi-jurisdictional broker.

We launched TiMi - your AI Trade Agent, an intelligent assistant that goes beyond answering questions. TiMi lets you open positions, check live prices, and manage trades directly through natural conversation - no charts, no menus, just chat.

SimpleFX became one of the first brokers in the world to implement the Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling seamless integration with AI platforms like Claude and ChatGPT.
